Magnesium Chloride Dihydrate--Safety and Storage Precautions
Apr 23,2025
Safety and Storage Precautions
Health Hazards: Dust irritates respiratory tract, contact with skin should be rinsed with water; accidental ingestion may cause diarrhea (more than 5g may lead to electrolyte disorders).
Storage conditions: Sealed and stored in a dry and ventilated place to prevent moisture dissolution (recommended packaging for woven bags lined with plastic bags, 25kg or 50kg per bag).
Transportation requirements: non-dangerous goods, but avoid mixing with alkalis and oxidizers (e.g. NaOH will react to produce Mg (OH)₂ precipitate).
Magnesium chloride dihydrate occupies an important position in the fields of construction, metallurgy and foodstuffs by virtue of its water solubility, magnesium ion activity and low cost advantages. The core of its application lies in the utilization of Mg²⁺'s chemical properties (e.g. cement curing, electrolyte action) and physical properties (hygroscopicity, low freezing point). In the future, with the development of new energy and environmental protection technology, the application of MgCl2⁺ dihydrate in the emerging fields of energy storage materials and soil remediation will be further expanded, and at the same time, attention should be paid to its halogenation problem in humid environments and environmental protection emission requirements (e.g., the control of Cl- concentration after industrial wastewater treatment).
